Test 1 Cabling

In test 1, 4 longitudinal cables were placed 6 feet on center to evaluate the platform as a light scaffold complying with OSHA regulations. Sand bags weighing 53 pounds each were used to apply a uniformly distributed load on the platform. The sand bags were placed in layers to load the platform in 20 lb/sq. ft. increments. The strain on the longitudinal cable was also monitored and recorded incrementally to determine the actual cable tension. The four 1/2 inch steel cables placed 6 feet on center held a continuous uniform load of 80 lbs/sq. ft. The cable deflection was found to be only 10 inches.
