Total Containment Systems, L.P. continued to develop and test patent #5,299,655 for bridge contractors. The system was designed to provide a safe, flexible and cost effective working platform for bridge contractors and can be quickly and easily installed on a complete bridge structure.  It can also be transformed into an ultra efficient negative air containment system for lead paint removal or used as a shielding system for concrete removal.

What is the TCS Working Platform?

By being able to enclose large areas at a time (multiple spans), you cut down on lengthy installation time and thus cut down on labor expense.

The TCS system redefines the word "efficient."  Once the platform is in place, it serves several functions, a working platform, a lead containment system, a fall protection device and shielding system.

Shielding

Nothing could be more safe, once installed, there is no possible way a worker can fall. This is the safest working platform available, not only to the worker, but also to pedestrians and traffic. Material falling from above can not descend on areas below. Our concrete shield can be erected on most structures, and can carry loads exceeding 250 pounds per square foot. If you are just preventing small debris from falling to areas below, or dropping the entire Bridge Deck, the TCS system can facilitate any situation.

Containment

Also, costly lane closures may no longer be necessary, once the system is in place it is possible to work over several lanes of traffic at one time. As long as the structure's clearance is more than 17 feet, there would be no obstruction to traffic below. Keep in mind, the TCS platform is erected over large areas of the structure, therefore, there is less down time due to moving the platform. Less down time leads to greater productivity which ultimately leads to increased profit margins.
